Original Red Wing materials in stock
A Red Wing is made to be repaired. Thanks to its construction featuring a stitched welt (the edge that attaches the sole to the upper) rather than a glued sole, the sole can be completely replaced without damaging the boot. But for those who want to keep their boots truly authentic, a good cobbler alone isn’t enough: you’ll want original soles, original materials and the original manufacturing method.
That is exactly what an Authorised Red Wing Repair Specialist does, and what sets them apart from a regular cobbler. Piep van Tuijn Shoemakers in Grave repairs Red Wing shoes for customers from all over the Netherlands and Belgium: using original Red Wing soles, including the iconic white Traction Tred, cork and neoprene cord, and in accordance with the authentic manufacturing method. Mark van Tuijn carries out every repair himself in the workshop.
So your shoes won’t be returned as “something similar with a different sole”, but as the Red Wing you once bought, ready for the years ahead.
You don’t even have to leave the house. Here’s how it works, from photo to receipt of the returned item:
1. Send a photo via WhatsApp Please send a few photos of your shoes (sole, heel and side) to 06-43441572. From Belgium: +31 6 43441572. Please briefly state what you would like: an original repair or a custom sole.
2. Get a no-obligation quote Evelien will get in touch with you and you will receive a price estimate before you send anything.
3. Post your shoes Please send your shoes to Klinkerstraat 19a, 5361 GV Grave. Please include a note with your name, address and telephone number so that we can contact you regarding your requirements.
4. Mark sets to work Your shoes will be repaired using the original methods. If there are any decisions to be made during the repair, we will discuss them with you first.
5. Returns or collection As soon as your shoes are ready, we’ll send them back to you or you can collect them in Grave.
You can also simply post your Red Wings from Belgium. The Netherlands and Belgium are both within the EU, so there are no customs charges or import formalities involved. For WhatsApp and phone calls, please use the international number +31 6 43441572.
Would you prefer to discuss this in person? You can also drop off your shoes at the shop/workshop in Grave, and we’ll discuss the options together.
With our original repair service, we restore your Red Wings entirely in accordance with the authentic manufacturing method. We have the original soles in stock, including the white Traction Tred, cork and neoprene-cord soles. This ensures your shoes are returned to you in their original condition and in top shape.
Fancy a change? We’ll replace your soles using the original method, but with our own personal touch. Think of soles from Dr. Sole or Vibram – there are plenty of options available in consultation with us.
Whether you wear Iron Rangers, Moc Toes such as the 875 or 877, Blacksmiths, Beckmans or Red Wing work boots: the repair of all Red Wing shoes is in safe hands with us.
The most common repair request is a resole – or, in Dutch, ‘het verzolen’ – which involves completely replacing worn or smooth soles. We can also help with worn-down heels and loose stitching. Not sure whether your repair is possible? Just send us a photo and we’ll take a look.
Piep van Tuijn Shoemakers is the traditional workshop run by Mark and Evelien van Tuijn. Mark carries out all Red Wing repairs with expertise and creativity; Evelien handles customer contact and social media: she’s the one you’ll speak to via WhatsApp. They’ve been enjoying working together in the cobbler’s workshop for many years.
